How casting works

Each line is cast with three coins. By convention Heads = 3 and Tails = 2, so three coins total 6, 7, 8 or 9. Six throws build the hexagram from the bottom up. Online casting uses your browser's cryptographically secure randomness; you can also toss real coins and enter each result.

TotalNameOriginalTransformedProbability
6Old yin 老阴Yin (broken)Yang (solid)1/8
7Young yang 少阳Yang (solid)Yang (solid)3/8
8Young yin 少阴Yin (broken)Yin (broken)3/8
9Old yang 老阳Yang (solid)Yin (broken)1/8

6 and 9 are changing lines. In the original hexagram 7 and 9 are yang; in the transformed hexagram 6 and 7 are yang. Hexagrams are calculated deterministically in code against the King Wen sequence. The AI never casts or alters a result. With no changing lines, the original hexagram stands alone.

Interpretation convention

The original hexagram is the primary context, changing lines mark transitions, and the transformed hexagram is secondary context. Traditional schools weigh multiple changing lines differently; oogee uses this one convention and labels it clearly.

About AI guidance

AI guidance is generated only when you ask for it, and only from the classical passages oogee supplies. It is instructed to keep original text, translation and its own synthesis separate and never to invent quotations; quotations that can't be verified against the sources are removed automatically. It supports reflection only and is not a prediction or medical, legal or financial advice.
